Peace is not just a lack of death by guns, bombs, tanks, and bayonets. Peace is a way of life, chosen actively by individual persons throughout every day of every year. Each individual choice for peace puts us one step closer to global peace.
Each of us can choose to start peace at home with our families, how we live our lives, how we speak and think. Show honesty, respect, and kindness to children, our partner or spouse, our parents, siblings, cousins. Grant everyone in our lives the right to express themselves, to be who they are. Most of all, respect ourselves, be who we are, forgive others so that we may be free. Live for happiness and joy.

Like Arlo Guthrie said: "It's about the little peace that's in you that makes people happy to see you coming, dogs lick you, babies like you... If we pay attention to the little peace, the big peace will take care of itself."
